Symbolism
A skeletal rider carries a black banner bearing a white rose — beauty within ending. Figures from every station meet the horse equally, and on the horizon the sun rises (or sets) between two towers. The card’s secret is in that horizon: every ending in tarot faces a dawn.
Upright meaning
Something is genuinely over — a chapter, an identity, a way of living — and the invitation is to let it close with grace. Death clears what has finished so what’s next has room. Transformation, not tragedy.
Reversed meaning
Resisting the ending — holding a door shut that wants to close, prolonging what’s complete. Reversed, Death asks what the resistance is costing you.
