Card X of the Major Arcana, the Wheel of Fortune is the turning point — luck, cycles, and the great rhythm of change. Here’s what it means upright and reversed, its symbolism, and a crystal to pair with it.
An honest note: tarot is a tool for reflection and storytelling, not fact or prediction. Read it as a mirror, not a map.
Wheel of Fortune at a glance
- Number: X
- Keywords: cycles, luck, turning points, destiny
- Planet: Jupiter
Symbolism
A great wheel turns in the sky, ringed with mystical letters, a sphinx atop it and figures rising and falling around its rim — the four fixed signs watching from the corners. The lesson is written in the motion itself: everything turns, nothing stays at the top or the bottom.
Upright meaning
A turning point — often a fortunate one. Momentum is shifting in your favour; say yes to the opening, and remember that good seasons are for planting as well as enjoying.
Reversed meaning
Resistance to a turn of the wheel — clinging to a phase that’s ending, or feeling stuck at the bottom of the cycle. Reversed, the Wheel gently reminds you: this, too, turns.
In love, work & spirit
Love: a relationship entering a new season. Work: an unexpected opportunity — be ready to move. Spirit: trusting cycles; working with moon phases and seasons rather than against them.
Crystal pairing
Green aventurine — the stone of luck and open doors.
Your house, your energy.
