The third eye chakra is the centre of intuition and inner sight — insight, imagination, and the quiet knowing beneath your thoughts. Here’s what it means, the stones traditionally used to balance it, and a simple way to work with it.
An honest note: chakras and crystals are a spiritual and metaphysical tradition, not medicine. Nothing here is a health claim — it’s meaning and ritual.
What is the third eye chakra?
Known in Sanskrit as Ajna (“perceive”), it sits at the centre of the forehead, between the brows. Its colour is indigo and it governs intuition, insight, imagination, and clarity of vision.
Balanced vs. blocked
In the tradition, a balanced third eye is described as feeling intuitive, clear, and imaginative — able to trust your inner sense. When it’s out of balance, people describe feeling foggy, disconnected from intuition, or overly stuck in logic. These are energetic descriptions, not diagnoses.
Crystals for the third eye chakra
- Amethyst — the classic intuition and calm-mind stone.
- Lapis lazuli — inner wisdom and insight.
- Labradorite — intuition and magic.
- Fluorite — mental clarity and focus.
How to work with it
Rest an indigo stone on your brow (lying down). Picture a deep indigo light there, breathe slowly, and silently affirm: “I trust my intuition.” Quiet meditation and paying attention to your dreams are natural third-eye practices.
Your house, your energy.
