The throat chakra is the centre of voice and truth — how you express what’s inside and speak your reality with clarity. Here’s what it means, the stones traditionally used to balance it, and a simple way to work with it.
An honest note: chakras and crystals are a spiritual and metaphysical tradition, not medicine. Nothing here is a health claim — it’s meaning and ritual.
What is the throat chakra?
Known in Sanskrit as Vishuddha (“purest”), it sits at the throat. Its colour is blue and its element is sound/ether. It governs communication, self-expression, and speaking your truth.
Balanced vs. blocked
In the tradition, a balanced throat chakra is described as feeling able to express yourself honestly and listen well. When it’s out of balance, people describe feeling unheard, holding words back, or struggling to say what they mean. These are energetic descriptions, not diagnoses.
Crystals for the throat chakra
- Sodalite — calm, honest communication.
- Amazonite — truth spoken with a steady heart.
- Blue lace agate — gentle, soothing expression.
- Aquamarine — courage to speak up.
How to work with it
Rest a blue stone at the base of your throat. Picture a clear blue light there, breathe, and silently affirm: “I speak my truth with ease.” Humming, singing, or journaling are lovely throat-chakra practices.
Your house, your energy.
